Bankey Bihari Temple

Bankey Bihari Temple was built in 1864 by Swami Haridas of the Nimbarka Sampradaya. The presiding deity in the temple is of Lord Krishna standing in the Tribhanga posture. This deity was originally worshipped by Haridas Swami under the name of Kunji-bihari. Later, the deity of Radha Rani was added to the temple. This temple is thronged by devotees in the month of Sravana, which lasts from July to August. During this festival, on the main day of Jhulan Yatra, Lord Krishna is placed in golden swing. Unlike other temples, the curtains before the deity are raised and shut every few minutes. It is believed that if seen for longer time, the brilliant eyes of Bankey Bihari can make the devotees unconscious. Many famous annual festivals are organized and celebrated with great pomp and show in this temple time to time. One of the chief annual festivals is HARIYALI TEEJ, a festival of the rainy season when the Idol of Lord Bankey Bihari together with GOPIS are placed on the special swing of gold and silver and moved to and fro. Thousands of visitors or pilgrims came and catch the divine glimpse of Lord Bankey Bihari in an excellent pose of swinging in the marvelous swing to and fro every year this day. The beautiful scenery of this day beggars to description.

Prem Mandir

jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj has been constructing a beautiful temple in Vrindavan, India, called Prem Mandir for the last many years. Vaishno Devi Mandir

For most people the mention of Maa Vaishno Devi conjures images of queues of people clambering up innumerable steps for darshan in the foot hills above Jammu to the famed shrine of the goddess Vaishno Devi. It is a pilgrimage which lakhs of Hindus swear by. Now a devotee is recreating the Magic of Maa’s darshan in the land of another popular diety – in Lord Krishna’s playground, Vrindavan in Mathura (UP). Barely 100 kms from the capital of India, Mathura is a fabled land and inextricably linked to the child-god Krishna who is the lynch-pin of the Mahabharata and inter alia of the holy book of the Hindus, the Gita. “Bringing the tallest image of Maa Vaishno Devi to Vrindavan was bound to create interest among the devotees,” says J.C. Chaudhry, Managing Trustee of the Trust and a devout Maa Vaishno Devi devotee who purchased a small piece of land at Vrindavan in May 2003, with the intent of following “Maa’s directions” as he puts it.

Iskcon Temple

Iskcon temple on Raman Reti Road in Vrindavan is the hub of the market sprung around it. Internet cafes, shops and stalls selling lemon soda, fruit, lassi, ethnic Indian clothes (very reasonably priced), perfumes, idols and a bank stand right across the road from the temple. The temple opens for Mangala arti at 4 a.m. and closes at 8.30 p.m. after Shayan arti worship. Through the day it is thronged by visitors from Delhi and other places. Vrindavan, a two hour drive from Delhi and an hour's drive from Agra is the headquarter for Vaishnav devotees the world over. Iskcon is an organisation with international branches, and hosts visitors from abroad. The month of Kartik in November is particularly busy at Iskcon temple
